Applications are currently open for Victorian companies within the rail industry to join Trade Victoria on a Global Discovery Exchange: Rolling Stock in the UK, Switzerland and Germany from 10 to 21 September 2018.

The Rolling Stock Global Discovery Exchange to Europe will provide access to major international rail manufacturing operations and businesses, enabling Victorian companies to benchmark against global leading practice and gain first-hand experience about new technologies and processes. The Exchange is designed to complement attendance at InnoTrans from 18 to 21 September.

The Exchange will showcase how the adoption of leading technologies and processes could benefit Victorian manufacturers, to improve competitiveness for future rolling stock procurement opportunities across and build capabilities to service global supply chains.

The Exchange will take place in the UK, Switzerland and Germany with events, site visits and meetings expected to include Keolis, Bombardier, CAF trains, SNC-Lavalin Rail, Alstom, MTU and more.

The program is designed to complement attendance at the InnoTrans in Berlin. InnoTrans known as the world's largest public transport event. With 3000 exhibitors from 60 countries, and over 137,000 trade visitors from 120 countries expected to attend, InnoTrans represents every facet of rail  – from passenger and freight, to services, technology, equipment and training.

About the Global Discovery Exchange initiative

  • The principal objective of the Global Discovery Exchange initiative is to connect Victorian manufacturers to new or improved technologies and processes and increase their adoption.
  • The Global Discovery Exchange initiative is distinct from trade missions offered by the Victorian Government, which have an explicit focus on assisting Victorian companies develop new export markets and grow international trade opportunities.

Eligibility, terms and conditions

Applications will be subject to an approval process and participation will be at the discretion of the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources (DEDJTR).

Exchange details

What types of companies should attend?
Companies within the rail industry and/or preparing themselves to take advantage of the significant pipeline of rolling stock procurement in Victoria and elsewhere are encouraged to apply.

Why should you attend?
Participating in the Exchange will provide an opportunity for Victorian manufacturers to benchmark against leading practice and experience new technologies in the rail industry.

What's included?
The Victorian Government will organise a week-long program of site visits, meetings and events and will organise in country ground transport.

What's not included?
Victorian Government will not pay for airfares, accommodation, attendees’ own incidental costs, and meals outside the official program.
