After successfully engaging local juggernaut companies such as Jetstar, Coles and Costco Australia to stock their range of healthy snack alternatives, Harvest Box were ready to tackle the global market, with some ideal outcomes.

Walk into any Starbucks store in Manila – and there’s plenty of them – chances are you’ll recognise a few healthy snack packs from Victorian company, Harvest Box. And it won’t just be the strong, bold branding and packaging that company founder’s James Scott and William Cook adopted to stand out from the crowd, “they’re in a really prominent spot” said James, “three of the snack packs sit on the counter there”.
We asked James how a small business like Harvest Box manages to break into the hugely competitive export market, and then succeed in attracting a global buying partner like Starbucks? “It was actually through Trade Victoria’s outbound and inbound Trade Missions last year” James revealed. After connecting with a distributor at Trade Victoria’s outbound trade mission to Food and Hotel Asia in 2016, James then attended the inbound mission held in Melbourne where he met the Starbucks buying team. Participating in both the inbound and outbound trade missions has “been really productive” said James, with both missions “coming together really nicely”.
The support Harvest Box received from Trade Victoria has seen the company successfully export into nine countries around the world.
