Key buyers from China’s biggest eCommerce companies, who collectively boast hundreds of millions of online buyers, are visiting Victoria this week to connect with local companies at a range of events for the Victorian Government's annual Victoria Invitation Program (VIP).
To help boost exports and create more local jobs, the government is using VIP to assist local fashion designers and lifestyle companies break into the lucrative $500 billion eCommerce market in China.
Representatives from some of China's major eCommerce businesses, such as China International Beauty Expo and VIP.com visited dedicated runway shows at the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival (VAMFF).
Some of the delegates also presented at the government's Victorian eCommerce Network (VeN) Fashion Beauty and China Cross-Border Workshop to provide local fashion designers with advice on how to successfully tap into new global markets. The mission is already delivering some brilliant results for local business owners. Victorian fashion label, Elliatt has announced a partnership with VIP.com making its high-end products available to more than 50 million active customers.
Elliatt will celebrate its new partnership with VIP.com by showcasing designs during a show at VAMFF where products can be purchased in real-time from VIP.com.
China's eCommerce companies are among more than 150 buyers, decision makers and officials from 14 countries visiting Victoria for VIP 2018.
