GOVEA Award winners 2016

The 2016 Governor of Victoria Export Awards were announced on Thursday 6 October 2016 at an Awards ceremony at Government House.

Ego Pharmaceuticals was awarded the Victorian Exporter of the Year and Worldpoly won the Victoria Export Award for Innovation Excellence. Cyan Ta'eed, co-Founder and Executive Director of Envato was awarded the Victorian Women in International Business Award.

Exporter of the Year: Ego Pharmaceuticals

Ego is the largest Australian owned pharmaceutical company specialising in dermatology. From its world class facilities in Melbourne the company researches, manufactures and markets over 120 products which treat and prevent skin conditions and maintain healthy skin.  Ego's iconic Australian brands include QV Skincare, Sunsense sunscreen, Aqium Hand Sanitiser and Pinetarsol.

Ego began exporting in 1962 to New Zealand, and today exports to 27 nations throughout Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Europe. Export now makes up 40 per cent of net sales and will continue to be a major driver of growth.

Export Award for Innovation Excellence: Worldpoly

Worldpoly has confirmed their position as a powerhouse of innovation, leadership and knowledge in the polyethylene pipe industry worldwide.

The specialised welding equipment which the company produces is used in the agriculture, construction, gas, irrigation, mining and plumbing markets, and Worldpoly has now exported to 110 countries, from Antarctica to Angola, Germany to Ghana, Myanmar to Maldives, Peru to Philippines and Venezuela to Vanuatu.

The company is now producing and exporting a range of equipment that is not only safe, easy to use & durable, but provides the connectivity and future-proof attributes required by today's client base, taking into consideration future technologies such as the Internet Of Things (IOT).

Victorian Women in International Business Award: Cyan Ta'eed, co-Founder and Executive Director of Envato

Recognised as both the Telstra Victorian Business Woman of the Year and the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Australia in 2015,  Cyan Ta'eed is passionate about gender diversity in technology.

Cyan is Co-Founder and Executive Director of Envato.  She started the company in her parents' garage and together with the other founders Collis Ta'eed and Jun Rung, freelanced on the side to pay the bills until the business became profitable.

Cyan also founded New Day Box in 2013, an initiative that mobilises women to make boxes of skincare and cosmetics for women in domestic violence crisis accommodation.  So far New Day Box has delivered over 5000 boxes to women in Victoria through a network of volunteers.
